Supper Seminars are open to Extension Volunteers in all program areas.  They are held on weeknights from September through February in a casual atmosphere. To accommodate those with busy schedules, participants are encouraged to bring a snack or light meal.  Some Supper Seminars are available to multiple counties via video conference.

Penn State Extension and other Land Grant Universities provide an enormous amount of research-based information and resources online.  Do you know how to find them quickly and easily?  This workshop focuses on where to look for what and how to keep track of the resources you need.  Presented by Horticulturist Tom Butzler, this workshop will focus on online resources for Master Gardeners.

E-data for Volunteers:  Making the Most of a Powerful New Tool

The new e-data system was designed in response to volunteer requests.  It serves as a platform for enrollment, event registration, communication, record-keeping and a whole lot more.  This seminar takes volunteers on a tour of the system and teaches them how to use it to record attendance, post activities, communicate with members, and more.

Mastering Your Digital Camera and Putting Your Photos to Work--Level I

Are you getting the most out of your digital camera?  If not, this workshop may be for you.  It will focus on the essentials of digital photography as well as techniques for managing and cataloging your photos, using albums, uploading and downloading, editing, obtaining the necessary permissions from your subjects, using photos to make a point, and more.

Using Microsoft Publisher to Advertise Your Events

Need a flyer to advertise your next fundraiser?  Want to design a really eye-catching newspaper advertisement?   Need to create brochures, certificates, forms, newsletters, signs, and more?  Microsoft Publisher may be just the tool you need to create attractive, colorful, and easily readable publications.  This workshop will introduce you to Publisher and get you started on creating your own documents.

Beekeeping:  The Observation Hive as a Teaching Tool

Do you like going into classrooms and expanding kids’ minds?  Teaching children the importance of beekeeping and pollination is easy and rewarding.  This workshop will walk you through all aspects of beekeeping using posters and an observation hive.  Once completed, you will be “certified” to use our equipment, posters, and observation hive (full of live honeybees) for any children’s educational program, whether it is a 4-H group or a school project.

Parliamentary Procedure

Do you often feel like your meetings last forever?  Do you find it hard to manage or participate in the meetings you attend?  Parliamentary Procedure may be the solution to these problems.  This workshop will focus on the rules outlined in Roberts Rules of Order and will teach skills in both facilitating and participating in effective meetings.  You will learn strategies to make your meetings more efficient and official.
